My PhD focuses on studying the effect of extreme weather events (i.e. extreme heat, drought, flooding) on soil quality, particularly in the biologically active upper soil layer, to determine consequential effects on biogeochemical cycling, soil microbial activity, and ultimately, soil productivity.Â
I've previously worked as a Research Technician within ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ, with my key analytical skills including:
- Characterisation of Soil Quality Indicators (pH/EC, nitrate, ammonium, phosphate, soil moisture and organic matter content)
- 14C isotope analysis
- Microplastic characterisation: Laser Direct Infrared (LDIR)
- DNA and Metabolomics extractions
Cymwysterau
- MSc: Environmental Science with Placement Year
