Overview
I am a PhD researcher at the School of Ocean Sciences. My research investigates the impacts of climate change on protected, high-latitude landscapes. The research applies high-resolution climate modelling to explore these impacts under a range of plausible climate scenarios during the mid- to late century. I aim to identify environmental pressures that are likely to impact coastal and estuarine environments, including changes in temperature, precipitation, sea level, storm frequency, and storm intensity. The associated physical, geomorphological and ecological responses will be examined to produce a framework that supports the development of evidence-based management strategies for mitigating the impacts of climate change.
This project is supervised by Professor Iestyn Woolway, within the Hydroclimatology research group.聽
Qualifications
- BSc: Geological Oceanography
2023鈥2026
Research Interests
Alongside climate modelling, my research interests also include the development of valid, deep-time tectonic plate reconstructions, particularly for the Proterozoic. During the second year of my undergraduate degree, I secured an internship with Professor Mattias Green, compiling a database of marine geological proxies that could be used to constrain tectonic and tidal simulations of the Proterozoic. This work sparked my interest in paleogeography and palaeoceanography, subsequently forming the basis for my undergraduate dissertation, 鈥Assessing the validity of modern tectonic plate reconstructions of the Meso-neo Proterozoic using marine geological proxies鈥.
