Mr Gethin Jones

Overview

Rwy'n Ddarlithydd mewn Addysg ym Mhrifysgol Bangor, ac yn darlithio ar draws ystod o gyrsiau israddedig ac 么l-raddedig. Addysg gorfforol yw fy mhrif faes arbenigedd.

Cyn symud i addysg uwch, cefais yrfa eang ac amrywiol. Nyrsio oedd fy mhroffesiwn cyntaf: hyfforddais a gweithiais fel nyrs seiciatrig gymwysedig cyn troi at addysgu. Dechreuais fy ngyrfa ym myd addysg fel athro addysg gorfforol ac awyr agored mewn ysgol uwchradd. Ochr yn ochr 芒'm gwaith fel athro, b没m hefyd yn gweithio'n rhan-amser am nifer o flynyddoedd mewn canolfan addysg awyr agored awdurdod lleol, gan feithrin angerdd dros ddysgu yn yr awyr agored. Yn ddiweddarach, symudais ymlaen i rolau o fewn yr awdurdod lleol, yn ddirprwy bennaeth mewn ysgol uwchradd, ac yn bennaeth yn y sector cynradd.

Mae'r profiad eang hwn, ym maes iechyd meddwl yn ogystal ag ar draws lleoliadau cynradd, uwchradd, awdurdod lleol ac awyr agored, yn rhoi persbectif proffesiynol cyfoethog i mi, ac rwy'n dod 芒 hwnnw i'm haddysgu heddiw.

Rwy'n darlithio ar amrywiaeth o fodiwlau: rhai sy'n canolbwyntio ar fy arbenigedd mewn addysg gorfforol, ac eraill sy'n tynnu ar fy mhrofiad yn yr ystafell ddosbarth ac fel arweinydd ysgol. Wrth wraidd fy addysgeg mae'r gred bod dysgu effeithiol yn cysylltu theori ag ymarfer. Rwy'n ceisio creu sesiynau ymarferol a chyfranogol sy'n annog myfyrwyr i fyfyrio'n feirniadol ar eu profiadau eu hunain ac i ddatblygu hyder fel ymarferwyr.

Rwy'n teimlo'n freintiedig o gael y cyfle i gyfrannu at ddatblygiad darpar athrawon ac i gefnogi myfyrwyr 么l-raddedig yn eu datblygiad proffesiynol parhaus. Y tu hwnt i'm gwaith, fy mhrif ddiddordebau yw chwaraeon a'r awyr agored, ychydig o waith coed a garddio.

I am a Lecturer in Education at 成人VR视频, teaching across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. My main area of specialism is physical education.

Before moving into higher education, I had a broad and varied career. My first profession was nursing: I trained and worked as a qualified psychiatric nurse before turning to teaching. I began my career in education as a teacher of physical and outdoor education in a secondary school. Alongside my work as a teacher, I also worked part-time for a number of years at a local authority outdoor education centre, developing a passion for outdoor learning. I later moved on to roles within the local authority, as a deputy headteacher in a secondary school, and as a headteacher in the primary sector.

This breadth of experience, in mental health as well as across primary, secondary, local authority and outdoor settings, gives me a rich professional perspective that I bring to my teaching today.

I teach on a variety of modules: some focus on my specialism in physical education, while others draw on my experience in the classroom and as a school leader. At the heart of my pedagogy is the belief that effective learning connects theory with practice. I aim to create practical, participatory sessions that encourage students to reflect critically on their own experiences and to develop confidence as practitioners.

I feel privileged to have the opportunity to contribute to the development of student teachers and to support postgraduate students in their continuing professional development. Outside of work, my main interests are sport and the outdoors, a little bit of woodwork and gardening
