Watch - Treborth Botanic Garden

Official Treborth Botanic Garden video
Video transcript: Treborth Botanic Garden

At Treborth Botanic Garden.

Just minutes from Bangor, you'll find something quite rare.

This is a living laboratory, a place where teaching, research and community come together in one extraordinary setting. Set within a designated Special Site of Scientific Interest, Treborth coastal woodland is one of the most distinctive habitats in Wales.

From biology and conservation to environmental science, forestry and even links with medicine, travel supports teaching across a wide range of subjects.

It's also an active research facility, supporting work that matters locally and globally. Inside the tropical houses, you'll find species from across the world while outside specialist collections, including a developing herbal garden in collaboration with Bangor's medical teaching.

The garden spans an area of 45 acres, packed with diverse collections and habitats. Very few universities have a facility like this across the UK, and travel is one of just a handful in Wales.

So what makes Treborth special is the people. A thriving community of volunteers, students and local supporters working side by side. It's genuinely intergenerational, with knowledge and experience shared every day.

There's always something happening. Seasonal plant sales, new conservation projects and occasionally cows wandering through the surrounding land.

Led by passionate experts and supported by dedicated volunteers, Treborth continues to grow as a centre for teaching, research and engagement for students at 成人VR视频.

It isn't just a facility. It's an opportunity to learn differently, to research in the real world, and to be a part of something that extends far beyond the classroom.

If you have already received an offer to study with us, here is a message from our teaching team.

Christian Dunn standing on the terrace in front of the Main University Building

Hello I鈥檓 professor Christian Dunn from the school of environmental and natural sciences at Bangor university and I wanted to congratulate you on your offer Well done.  I also wanted to give you three things that make Bangor so special.  The first is the additional teaching facilities that we have, so we have all the nice shimmy labs and the lecture theatres that you would expect from a university of our standing; but we also have a research farm, a research centre, we have our own botanic garden and we have our own natural history museum; which you will use when you are here studying with us at Bangor.  The second thing is all your lecturers to a certain degree are research active.  Which means that they are doing the research which they are then teaching you and so when you come on to do your third-year project, you鈥檒l be doing it with an active research group.  The third thing is our location.  We are in the best natural laboratory you cold hope for.  Right there we have the sea, and just over there we have the mountains, and we have every habitat you can imagine in between.  It is a great place to live and to study if you are interested in the natural world.  So I鈥檓 looking forward to seeing you in September.
