Throughout November, CAL:ON Cymru will host a series of in-person Professional Learning workshops across Wales designed to support teachers in their delivery of high-quality literacy education.
During this phase, the workshops are only available to schools who signed up to be part of our trials. They will be the first opportunity for us to road-test our Professional Learning resources before they are made available more widely.
Alongside these events, CAL:ON Cymru is working with Dysgu to deliver Leadership of Literacy days for primary and secondary school leaders. Before attending, the senior leaders and literacy coordinators complete a whole-school literacy audit. On the day, they hear about the national picture and the science of how literacy develops. They will then work in facilitated groups to compare their audit evaluations, agree up to three priorities, and begin to develop a plan for change in their school. Schools are also asked what support at a national level would help them secure progress in literacy.
Details of future events will be announced soon, and our online Professional Learning modules will be available after the trail phase from summer 2027.
