Join us during Welcome Week for a trip to the spectacular Penrhyn Castle, right here in Bangor! Explore this impressive neo-Norman castle, its grand interiors, Victorian kitchens, gardens and surrounding parkland, while discovering the fascinating history of one of North Wales’ most iconic buildings. With stunning views towards Eryri (Snowdonia) and the Menai Strait, it’s a great opportunity to get out, explore the local area and meet other students.
Penrhyn Castle has also become a favourite filming location. Most recently, it featured prominently in Netflix’s House of Guinness, where the castle portrayed the Irish estate and home of the Guinness family in the hit period drama. It also featured in the HBO series Watchmen and the grand entrance and imposing structure of the castle was used as a backdrop for the James Bond film, The World is Not Enough!
You will get FREE entrance to the castle and grounds - there is a café, but we'd encourage you to bring your own packed lunch. Also bring a coat in case the Welsh weather gives us a shower or two!
